Personal Role

As producer for the show, there was a basic set of roles I needed to adhere to, which I have listed below.

Producer – pre programme – shape content, delegate roles, set up and confirm guests.

You will lead the production meeting with your tutor, 2 – 3pm weds before you go on air and it is essential you get the group to brainstorm ideas before this. You should bring a ideas/suggested running order to this meeting and make notes to help shape the show.

  • Submit trailer to Ian on the Friday before, maximum of 45 seconds, ideally include audio clips as a wav.
  • It is your job to check the team are setting up content/interviews in plenty of time, if you need help, ask your tutor.
  • MAP forms must be done for all content.
  • Double check the day before the audio and the live content, guests and READ ALL SCRIPTS.
  • Is it ready for broadcast?
  • Be prepared to help with Multi Platform/social media content on the day and during the show where possible.
  • Be on hand before to meet and greet and brief guests and team.
  • In studio during show, keeping eye on time, making sure it runs smoothly, make decisions, get it on and keep it on air
  • De brief afterwards, praise, suggest, lessons learned
  • You have the FINAL say on everything.
  • Ensure the show is recorded at 5 to 2 and the audio copy is then uploaded to the website

I ensured that I followed all of these alongside creating my own personal set of roles that I wanted to stick to so that I created a high quality show.

These were roles such as:

  • Research and Organise the live guest, including ensuring the live guest was content whilst in the studio, and they had food/drink if necessary
  • Ensure the team was happy with the work they had to perform and assist if they had any production problems
  • Be prepared to assist any of the team on the day with any problems that may arise
  • Have sufficient organisation that if a health problem arose, the show could continue progressing in my absence with no problems.

I believe I fulfilled all of these roles, with some of these points that I expand on the behind the scenes and on air pages. The feedback received also expands on the fact I believe I did an excellent job at producing the show.

As producer I also felt that everyone in the group not just the individuals tied to the show needed to be involved, so tried to get everyone involved in producing content and gaining their feedback on potential ideas.
